Omega C760
Omega's C760 arrived in 1980, near the end of the 1970s enlarger boom, and replaced both the B66 and the C67. KHB Photografix calls it the most modern of Omega's medium-format enlargers, and it looks it. The girder bolts straight to the baseboard on four studs, and the head is fixed in place to cut down alignment trouble, yet the head still rotates and the lens stage tilts for distortion control. Focus knobs sit on both sides. It prints Minox up to 6x7 cm. Omega sold it as the C760 condenser enlarger and as the Super Chromega C760 with a dichroic head offering 0 to 200 filtration, an 85 W halogen lamp and mixing boxes for 35mm and 6x7. Diffusion, VariCon and 2700 VC cold light heads were offered too. The standard column was dropped by 1983, so later ones are all XLs. The chassis ran until 1999, and the dichroic head and many accessories stayed in production until 2014.

Light, carriers, bellows and lens
- Light source and lamp
- The Super Chromega C760 dichroic head has 0 to 200 cyan, magenta and yellow, a white light switch and a built-in power supply, and it runs an 85 W 82 V halogen reflector lamp. KHB Photografix lists that lamp but had none in stock in October 2026, so ask whether a spare comes with it. The condenser head uses a 75 W PH140 opal lamp, which KHB had in stock. Diffusion, VariCon and 2700 VC cold light heads also turn up.
- Carriers and condensers
- C760 carriers are glassless rapid shift types from Minox and Disc up to 6x7 cm, plus a 6x7 glass carrier, and they also fit the C67 and Super Chromega C. The dichroic head should come with 35mm and 6x7 mixing boxes, which are styrofoam and plastic and damage easily. Look in the photos for the carriers you'll use and both mixing boxes.
- Column and bellows
- C760s from the first two years used polyurethane focus rollers that crack, crumble and turn to goo with age, leaving the enlarger impossible to focus, and from 1982 Omega switched to solid spring-tensioned rollers. On any C760 the fine elevation drive rollers and brake pad can crack, so the fine knobs spin with no effect. Ask the seller to focus through the full range and to raise the head with the fine knob.
- Alignment
- The head is fixed in place and secured with four knurled thumbscrews, which KHB says cuts down alignment problems. A foam light seal sits between the lamphouse and the carrier and tears if carriers are forced in. KHB's fix is to set the gap between head and negative stage to slightly less than a carrier's thickness, about 3mm.
- Lens
- Lenses screw into one of two 39mm threaded discs, a flat one for most 50mm to 90mm lenses and a recessed or extended one, with no retaining ring needed. Check the photos for at least one disc. If a lens is listed, it should be shown on its disc.
- Timer and power
- The dichroic head has its power supply built in and plugs straight into an enlarging timer. Omega's optional solid-state voltage stabilizer holds the lamp voltage within 3 percent, which KHB calls virtually mandatory for color printing. The condenser head only needs a timer.
- Shipping and pickup
- We couldn't find a sourced weight for the C760. KHB says to take the condenser lenses out before it's moved, because the lower lens isn't secured and can hit the upper one in transit. Ask the seller to pack the condensers and mixing boxes separately.

Check the listing photos against these lists, and ask the seller about anything you can’t see. A missing carrier, condenser or lens board should come off the price.
What to check
KHB's service advisory covers early focus assemblies with polyurethane rollers that liquefy, elevation drive rollers and brake pads that crack, and condenser lenses in plastic frames that damage each other when the head is jolted. The foam light seal also wears if carriers are forced in.
- 01Focus: Ask the seller to focus the lens through its full range. Smooth, gripping movement means the focus rollers are sound.
- 02Fine elevation: Ask the seller to turn the fine elevation knob and watch the head. Knobs that spin freely mean cracked drive rollers.
- 03Head type: Ask whether it's the dichroic, condenser or diffusion head. A dichroic head should show dials that turn from 0 to 200.
- 04Mixing boxes: Look in the photos for the 35mm and 6x7 mixing boxes. Both should be intact, with no crushed foam.
- 05Carriers: Check the photos for 6x7 and 35mm carriers. C67 and Super Chromega C carriers fit too.
- 06Light seal: Ask for a photo under the lamphouse where the carrier slides in. An intact foam seal blocks light leaks.
- 07Lens disc: Check the photos for a threaded 39mm lens disc. The flat disc suits most 50mm to 90mm lenses.
- 08Packing: Ask the seller to pack condensers and mixing boxes outside the head. Loose glass inside can crack in transit.

The one we'd ask about is ndmax_rrlhamz's C760 dichroic at $550 with an El Nikkor 50mm, which the photo shows packed in its original box, though no shipping is quoted. The other two come from a 93.5% seller and from a seller with no name or feedback shown, so pay only through eBay checkout if you try them. On any C760, ask the seller to focus through the full range and turn the fine elevation knob, since early polyurethane focus rollers turn to goo and cracked drive rollers leave the knobs spinning. On a dichroic head, look for both the 35mm and 6x7 mixing boxes and ask about a spare 85 W 82 V lamp, which KHB had none of in October 2026.
