Saunders built easels. KHB Photografix says they were the standard in commercial, school and home darkrooms for decades, all metal and made in the USA, and they're now out of production. The enlargers that wear the Saunders name were built in Japan by LPL. When Ctein reviewed the 670DXL in Darkroom Photography in March 1983, the Saunders Group was importing it, and the US models got their own numbers. LPL's 7450 became the Saunders/LPL 4500, the 7451 the 4500-II, the 7452L the 4550XLG, and the dichroic 7700 the 670DXL. James Ollinger traces the co-brand to Berkey's marketing arm, which also sold Saunders/Omega easels. Saunders didn't buy Omega. After Berkey's bankruptcy Omega went to RT Corporation and later merged with Satter, and OmegaSatter went on selling the same LPL machines as Omega/LPL. So one enlarger can turn up under three badges, and LPL parts fit all of them.
