Brand
LPL started in July 1953 as Lux Kogeisha, a small Tokyo workshop whose first product was a film clip. It became LPL, short for Luxe Photo Laboratory, in 1963, and its sales arm went on to export to 68 countries. Camera-wiki notes it's best known for its enlargers. LPL added a color head for its 66 series in 1976, a 67 color enlarger in 1977, the pro 7000 series in 1979 and its first 4x5, the 7450, in 1984. Abroad, LPL's Canadian distributor lists the 3301D, the 6600 and 6700, the 7700 series and the 745x 4x5s. In the US, Saunders sold them as Saunders/LPL and OmegaSatter later as Omega/LPL, Jobo badged some too, and the US model numbers were often different. From 2005 LPL turned to camera stands and lighting, and its own web shop now sells off the last new enlarger parts. KHB Photografix in Canada still services LPL enlargers and stocks many parts.
