The plain LPL 7700 is the condenser model in LPL's 7000 series, the pro 6x7 line the company dates to 1979. In Japan LPL sold it as the System Enlarger 7700 Pro and wrote that black-and-white printers around the world admired it. It shares the die-cast chassis of the color and VCCE models: a 110 cm girder, a carriage that tilts for wall projection, a lens stage that tilts and shifts, and extra-long bellows. Light comes from a teardrop opal lamp through three clear condensers, with an adjustable lamp socket and a tray for 100 mm square filters. That's the setup for printers who like the extra snap of a condenser. KHB Photografix, LPL's Canadian distributor, lists it as the 7700 Triple Condenser, and in the US the same machine was the Saunders/LPL or Omega/LPL 670XL condenser. The heads lift off after two screws, so a condenser 7700 can take a dichroic or VCCE head later, as long as you add LPL's power supply for it.

Should come with it
Hard to find if missing
Check the listing photos against these lists, and ask the seller about anything you can’t see. A missing carrier, condenser or lens board should come off the price.
KHB stocks replacement bellows for 7700s with cracked, split or pin-holed bellows, plus counterbalance springs and focus and elevation lock knobs. Look hard at those parts in the photos.
New to used enlargers? How to check a used enlarger covers the bellows, the column, the lamp and alignment, and condenser, diffusion and color heads explains which light source suits how you print.
We haven’t been through this model’s listings yet. Search eBay and run every listing through the checklist above. Ask which negative carriers, condensers or mixing box and lens board come with it, for a photo of the lamp lit, and for a photo of the bellows with a light inside them. Pass on any seller who won’t answer.
